Gregory A. Scott

Gregory A. Scott is a founding partner of Scott & Scott, P.C. Greg received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Illinois State University in 1973 and his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 1977. He is admitted to the Illinois Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois.

Greg is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Sangamon County Bar Association. He has served in the capacity of President, Vice-President, and Treasurer of the Sangamon County Bar Association.

Greg is a past President of the Sangamon County Bar Association. He is the chair of the Illinois State Bar Association Judicial Evaluations-Outside Cook County Committee. He was the Chair of the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Section Council.

Greg has served his community as an advisor to and a board member of various charitable and religious organizations. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Hope Institute in Springfield. He has been a frequent lecturer in the area of family law for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Illinois State Bar Association and the National Business Institute.

Greg concentrates his practice in the area of Family Law at the Trial Court, Appellate Court, and Supreme Court levels. He also practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Real Estate and maintains a general practice of law.

Greg is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He was a member of the Board of Managers of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Illinois Chapter. Greg has extensive trial experience and frequently appears before the 4th District Appellate Court. Greg Successfully argued the case of Fisher v. Waldrop in the Illinois Supreme Court.

Greg is considered one of the preeminent family law attorneys in Central Illinois. He has been designated as a Leading Lawyer. He handles complex and less complex dissolution cases including child custody disputes, business valuations, and divisions, paternity, and adoptions. Greg has been very conscious of the need to help his clients go through a difficult process and approach each issue objectively and fairly.
